Montreal City Hall was built between 1872-1878 in the Second Empire style also known as Napoleon III style, and designed by Henri-Maurice Perrault and Alexander Cowper Hutchinson. Old Montreal is located in the borough of Ville-Marie and is the oldest area in Montreal dating back to colonial times. Old Montreal has been revitalized and has become a major tourist area showcasing some of its oldest architecture dating back to the 1600's.
