An adventure of a lifetime, Kenya. This safari is designed to give photographers the incredible opportunity to see, feel, experience and photograph the best in Africa's safari destinations. Kenya has one of the most diverse and majestic landscapes in all of Africa, home to an incredible variety of wildlife and best known for it's annual Serengeti migration. Our safari will allow participants to experience all of this and more. You'll return from your experience with a lifetime of wonderful memories and a portfolio of imagery that you'll treasure for years to come. I hope you can join me on this journey.
Upon your arrival in Nairobi (DAY 1) you'll be greeted by our guides and transported to the Safari Park Hotel for an overnight before you begin an incredible journey into the best of Kenya's Wildlife Parks. We'll depart for Samburu National Reserve the following day where we'll spend three overnights at the Samburu Intrepids Camp. Samburu Intrepids Camp is located in the beautiful semi desert of northern Kenya on the banks of Uaaso Nyiro River. After three days of photographing the wildlife of Samburu we'll move on to the lush landscapes of Lake Nakuru National Park. We'll spend the next three nights in the beautiful Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. After Lake Nakuru we'll move into the crown jewel of Kenya's game parks, the Masai Mara National Reserve. Six overnights in the Masai Mara will give us many incredible game drives to experience the best of Africa's wildlife.
A successful photographic safari depends greatly on the access you have to the wildlife. This is why we hire the best of Kenya's game drivers and employ the best of safari vehicles. Our drivers routinely drive for filmmakers and other commercial projects. After many years of traveling on safari, I have worked with many drivers and have hand picked each driver we have on this safari based on their experience and desire to share the best of their country with participants. We use 9-passenger Land Rovers and place only three participants per vehicle. This gives each photographer optimum photographic access with the freedom to move to either side of the vehicle as needed and allowing photographers to arrange their camera gear as they need. Truly the best game viewing experience you'll encounter.
(DAY 2,3,4,5) Our photo safari coincides with the Great Serengeti Migration, the greatest of all wildlife experiences. But before we head into the Maasi Mara, it would be unthinkable to visit Kenya and not visit two other incredible destinations. Samburu National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park. Samburu is an excellent park of scrub desert, thornbush, riverine forest and swamps situated along the Ewaso Ngiro River. Samburu is home to several interesting wildlife species that won't be seen in other parts of Kenya such as Gerenuk, Grevy's Zebra, Somali Ostrich and the Reticulated Giraffe. We'll have opportunities to photograph elephant, lions, olive baboon, Beisa Oryx, and Gunther's Dik-dik. Truly a remarkable landscape and a unique experience to start your African Safari.
(DAY 6,7,8) We'll move on to Lake Nakuru National Park. The drive itself between the parks are quite interesting. We'll have an opportunity to visit the Samburu tribe before our journey moves onto our next destination. The colorful people of Samburu are wonderful subjects for your camera and a must stop before heading into a vastly different environment. We'll move from the dry desert to the lush Rift Valley where argriculture becomes common scenery. This lush environment is also where Lake Nakuru National Park lies. Lake Nakuru is an alkaline lake and the feeding waters of hundreds of thousands of greater and lesser flamingos. It is also a declared black rhino sanctuary and a number of other endangered animals. We'll photograph Rothschild's giraffe, waterbuck, reedbuck, hippo and if we're lucky, leopard. Roger Tory Peterson has described Lake Nakuru as the greatest ornithological spectacle in the world. Not only are the shores of the lake lined with flamingos but white pelican, African Fish eagle, yellow-billed stork, Marabou stork and many others are found near these waters.
(DAY 9,10,11,12,13,14) No African safari can be complete until you witness one of the animal kingdom's greatest spectacles, the Great Serengeti Migration. Our safari coincides during this incredible wildlife journey. Millions of wildebeest and zebras make this migration route every year and for the visitor it is one of the most amazing scenes you'll ever witness. The Maasi Mara National Reserve will be our roaming grounds for the next 6 days. We'll see not only the migration of these great herds but also the predators that prey on these animals as they make their way through these northern plains. Lion, leopard, and cheetah call the Mara home and if we're lucky we'll have the opportunity to watch these animals apply their hunting skills. It's an amazing sight to watch these predators in action and not one you'll forget anytime soon. The Mara is also home to large herds of elephant, aways a fun and exciting creature to watch and photograph. Other wildlife species we'll see are the Cape buffalo, crocodile, Eland, Greater Kudu, oryx, Thomson's gazelle, impala, spotted hyena, Grant's gazelle, hartebeest, giraffe, eland and many others.
(DAY 15) Our final day we'll head back to Nairobi before our evenig departure.
I hope you can join me on this incredible journey. Kenya is a remarkable country and the wildlife is only a small part of what you will experience on this trip.
